A family business with an eye for growth

Naturally Hopmans is a family business with deep roots in the Wieringermeerpolder. It has been farming on this spot since 1939. What began as a traditional arable farm grew over the generations into a modern garden plant nursery with a clear passion for perennials.

In 2006, in addition to arable farming, the cultivation of garden plants was started on a small scale. From the beginning, the focus was on Hebe Addenda. Addenda is a growers’ association in which leading ornamental growers work together to create a strong brand. (Addenda website link) Naturally Hopmans joined this cooperation from the beginning of cultivation. From the smallest grower within the growers’ association, the company grew step by step to its current size, driven by craftsmanship, cooperation and a long-term vision.

Today we grow year-round garden plants. Our assortment includes Hebe Addenda, Heuchera Indian Summer, Helleborus Sparkle and a wide range of perennials. Cooperation has always been the key to growth here.

An important next step was taken in 2018 with the acquisition of Hebe Addenda breeding from Kjaergaardsminde Nursery in Nyborg, Denmark. Since then, all new Hebe Addenda varieties come entirely from Natural Hopmans breeding.

Even in recent years, we continue to build strong partnerships. In 2022, we started the collaboration Colour Your Season, together with Flevoflora from Marknesse and Kwekerij Roest from Vierpolders. A close cooperation focused on assortment, cultivation, marketing and sales, with the common goal: strong plants and a recognizable story.
